World Series Final Game Captures 51M Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The exciting extended contest where the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined 51 million viewers across the United States, Canadian, and Japanese markets. Major League Baseball stated this marks the highest-rated World Series finale since the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday epic contest secured over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and their digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic game after the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement compared to the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the Nielsen ratings, Game 6 placed 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, the fifth game was eighth, and the third game landed in 13th place.

International Audience Figures

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English program in Canada since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 PM local time, it drew 12M. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew 13.1M spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The full seven-game series averaged 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience increases for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on the Univision network, the complete US average reached over 16 million. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09M viewers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s best playoff performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by 44 media partners in 16 different tongues.
