The star has given the complete sum of his £25k honor winnings to the Music Venues Trust, which operates to save the Britain's small live music spots.

Fender was presented with the cheque on October 16 as his latest record his work was named the best record of the past year.

He has decided to hand the money over to the trust, in recognition of the crucial part small stages played in his initial steps.

"I couldn't be pursuing what I am doing today if it weren't for all the performances I did around the North East, and beyond, when I was just getting going," stated the artist. "These spaces are renowned, but they are facing challenges."

From early 2023 onward, over 150 of these venues have ceased operations – about 16% of the total UK scene.

Recently, major artists such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the trust in its efforts to help venues survive, by including a minor surcharge to their ticket costs, which goes to help smaller concert halls.

He also took part, collecting more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist numerous small stages across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The donation assisted venues that were confronting potential shutdown due to issues stemming from water damage, blazes and bereavements, as well as permit problems, conflicts and sound issues.

Other venues received financial assistance in upgrading facilities and technical equipment that directly benefitted artists and concertgoers.

"The notion that money from performances in large arenas helps the local stages, where it begins for artists like me, is just logical," Fender has commented.

He is among several artists to give his award winnings to charitable organizations.

Back when the band received the prize in the mid-90s for their release their work, frontman the singer stated that the group would donate their cash to the non-profit War Child.

In 2002, artist she divided her bounty among several organizations, like the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"I also contributed a grand to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics class, because I did gymnastics when I was a child and they needed updated gear," she shared with a publication.

Previously, they gave their prize money to the local youth club that developed their band, alongside other grassroots music organisations.

Additionally 1994 winners M People contributed their winnings to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was diagnosed the condition.

"The victory was quite enough," remarked artist the singer. "The cash was the extra but we didn't need the cherry, because we had the cake. So our winning impacted somebody else's life."

In the past week, the MVT revealed it had rescued a couple of small stages in that region, by transferring them to public stewardship.

The first in Southampton and the second in that location were bought under the Own Our Venues program, which is supported by a national body and enthusiasts who buy "stakes" in the properties.
