It's a challenge for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if not afforded the chance.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her debut and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Certain people claim the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it has been a disappointing period because I feel like I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your fighting spirit activate and you just lock into the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was out the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph following success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
